About the Book: "Captured! Stories of American WWII Prisoners of War, includes the story of former Bluffton resident, Granville ‘Grant’ Workman. Mr. Workman was a 15-year-old Army soldier who lied about his age to enlist shortly after the Pearl Harbor bombing in 1941. He was captured by the Japanese in 1942 and became a Bataan Death March survivor. He served in the Philippines and Japanese coal mines until the end of the war in 1945. He was born in Plymouth but after the war lived in Bluffton.

The book also includes stories of seven other men, five of whom were shot down with aircrews and captured in German Prisoner of War camps.

Each man from the book will be discussed during the presentation, including the uncle of Bluffton resident Bruce Ballinger. Walter ‘Bud’ Rumple, a native of Van Buren, was shot down and captured by the Germans during a bombing mission. After the war, he lived in Scottsburg, IN. He married a young woman whose maiden name was Ballinger."
